This page is a press release from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announcing the resumption of beef imports from Switzerland and Liechtenstein as of July 5, 2016. These countries had been subject to import restrictions since February 2001 due to BSE occurrence. Following a scientific evaluation by the Food Safety Commission and consultations with both governments, imports have been resumed. The conditions require cattle to be 30 months of age or younger, with specified risk materials limited to tonsils and distal ileum. These conditions align with those applied to other major beef-exporting countries.
