Following a contamination case in June 2014 involving insufficient removal of tonsils from frozen beef tongues, imports were suspended. After reviewing France's investigation report confirming implementation of preventive measures, the import suspension for shipments from SOCOPA VIANDES facility was lifted. Improvements included correcting processing methods to meet Japanese standards, re-notifying export facilities and supervisory agencies of Japanese requirements, and French authorities verifying compliance with Japanese conditions.
