This page describes the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's response to food additives manufactured using genetically modified microorganisms that had not undergone safety assessments required by the Food Sanitation Law. Cargill Japan and Mitsubishi Corporation imported plant-based oils manufactured using unlicensed additives (lipase and phospholipase). Approximately 8,000 tons were imported and used in products like margarine and dressing, though the additives were removed during processing and absent from final products. The ministry instructed both companies to stop imports and sales, and required the additive manufacturer to submit safety data. No immediate health risks are identified.

このページは、食品衛生法に基づく安全性審査を受けていない遺伝子組換え微生物を利用した添加物に関する対応を報告しています。平成28年9月15日に、カーギルジャパンと三菱商事から、特定の植物性原料油脂の製造に遺伝子組換え微生物が使用されていることが発覚しました。これにより、輸入者に対して輸入や販売の中止が指示され、添加物の製造者には必要な安全性データの提出が要求されました。今のところ、健康への影響はないとされており、安全性評価が完了するまで流通に関する判断は保留されています。
