This page is the official website of Shiraoi Town in Hokkaido, Japan. Located in the southwestern region, the town is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and Shikotsu-Toyako National Park, with forests covering approximately 75% of its area. The Ainu people have cultivated a rich cultural life here since ancient times. In July 2020, "Upopoy," a national center for Ainu cultural revival and development, opened on the shores of Poroto Lake. The site provides information on living, health, welfare, education, tourism, industry, and disaster prevention.
