This page explains the Act on Regulation of Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail and Other Matters, which regulates sending advertisements, promotions, and solicitations via email without user consent. The December 2008 amendment introduced an opt-in system requiring prior consent for non-business relationships. The law mandates maintaining consent records, respecting opt-out requests, displaying sender information, prohibiting sender information falsification, and banning fictitious email addresses. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications distributes a plug-in tool for users to report spam emails.
