This page reports that YKKAP, a major building materials manufacturer, has received a cease-and-desist recommendation from the Fair Trade Commission for violating the Subcontractor Law. YKKAP and its two Okinawa subsidiaries (Ryukyu YKKAP Kogyo and YKKAP Okinawa) forced subcontractors to store window frames and sash molds without compensation for extended periods. From February 2024 to January 2026, approximately 4,997 molds were stored by 67 companies without charge. This is the first recommendation against a prefectural business since the Subcontractor Law amendment in 2004.
