This page from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism explains the importance of human rights respect in corporate business activities. The international community, including the UN Human Rights Council, supports the "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights." Human rights protection is recognized as essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Investors, civil society, and consumers increasingly expect companies to respect human rights. In October 2020, the Japanese government established an action plan on "Business and Human Rights" to promote human rights due diligence in corporate activities. This initiative aims to enhance corporate value, international competitiveness, and contribute to achieving the SDGs.
