This page details Daihatsu's misconduct in automotive type certification applications and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's response. In May 2023, Daihatsu reported submitting incorrect collision test data for two hybrid vehicles. A third-party investigation in December revealed 82 instances of misconduct across 28 current production vehicle models and one engine, involving 16 categories of irregularities. Additionally, 60 instances were found in discontinued models. On January 16, 2024, the ministry identified 14 additional violations, initiated type certification cancellation procedures for three particularly egregious models, and issued correction orders.
