This page is a press release from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare dated September 1, 2023, announcing partial amendments to three Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccines. The approved vaccines contain mRNA encoding the Omicron XBB.1.5 spike protein. The three variants target different age groups: adults, ages 5-11, and ages 6 months-4 years, with dosages of 0.3mL, 0.2mL, and 0.2mL respectively. All require at least a 3-month interval after previous vaccination. Initial immunization and booster protocols are specified accordingly.
