This page is a Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare press release from October 5, 2022, announcing special approvals for COVID-19 vaccines. Two approvals were granted: Comirnaty intramuscular injection for 6 months to 4 years old, and a partial change in approval for Comirnaty RTU. The pediatric vaccine requires three doses diluted in saline (second dose after 3 weeks, third dose after 8 weeks). The RTU formulation adds a bivalent vaccine targeting the original strain and Omicron BA.4-5, with two initial immunizations and booster dosing approved.
