This page announces the revision of the "Guidelines on Fair Electric Power Trading" published jointly by the Japan Fair Trade Commission and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on March 31, 2022. The guidelines, originally created in December 1999, clarify acts problematic under the Antimonopoly Act in ensuring fair and effective competition in the electricity market. Following the June 2020 amendment to the Electricity Business Act, which newly positioned distribution companies and specified wholesale suppliers, the guidelines were revised. After soliciting public comments on the draft revision released in February, four submissions were received and considered before finalizing the revision.
