This page explains the expiration dates and renewal procedures for My Number Cards and electronic certificates. My Number Cards issued to those 18 and older are valid for 10 years, while those under 18 are valid for 5 years. Electronic certificates are valid for 5 years regardless of age. Notification letters are sent 2-3 months before expiration. Renewals can be processed at municipal offices starting 3 months before expiration. Cards can be renewed through four methods: smartphone application, photo booth, mail, or in-person at offices.
