About this page

This page describes the Digital Agency's initiative to standardize and unify core business systems across local governments. To maintain public services in a declining population society, approximately 1,800 municipalities are transitioning to standardized systems rather than developing individual ones. The Standardization Law was enacted in 2021, specifying 20 target administrative operations. The initiative aims to reduce personnel and financial burdens on local governments, improve resident services, and establish a digital infrastructure foundation. By fiscal year 2025, local governments are expected to smoothly migrate to compliant systems. Implementation includes government cloud migration, common function development, and comprehensive operational cost measures.
