This page announces that the Digital Agency granted ministerial approval to TIS Inc. on December 20, 2021, for using the public personal authentication service. The service uses electronic certificates stored in My Number Cards to prevent impersonation and tampering, enabling online identity verification and electronic applications. Private businesses meeting security standards can use the service; fourteen companies have been approved to date. TIS Inc., as a platform operator, will provide infrastructure enabling the use of public personal authentication for identity verification during financial institution account opening procedures and other processes.
