This page presents the biography of Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications. Born in January 1961 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, he graduated from Tokyo University's Faculty of Law and worked for Mitsui & Co. before his political career. First elected to the House of Councillors in 1995, he has held numerous ministerial positions including Minister of Defense, Agriculture, Education, and Foreign Affairs, as well as Chief Cabinet Secretary. He was appointed Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications in October 2025 under Prime Minister Takaichi's first cabinet.
