This page announces an import inspection order issued by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on June 7, 2018. Chinese millet (sorghum) and its processed products exceeding 30% content were found to contain aflatoxin, a carcinogenic mycotoxin produced by fungi. An inspection order mandating testing of all batches was implemented. Specifically, 21,825 kg of Chinese millet imported by Ishiguro Trading Co., Ltd. tested positive for aflatoxin at 13 μg/kg, exceeding the zero-tolerance standard. The entire shipment was placed under quarantine.
