This page is a press release from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare dated April 15, 2015, regarding new border control measures against dangerous drugs. Following legal amendments in December 2014, inspection orders now cover substances with suspected psychotoxicity equivalent to or exceeding designated drugs. On April 14, the ministry issued its first inspection and sales suspension orders against dangerous drug importers. Between February and April, 25 cases of suspected dangerous drug imports were subject to inspection orders through cooperation with customs authorities, significantly strengthening border enforcement. Results will lead to rapid designation of confirmed dangerous drugs.
