This page describes the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' initiative to promote postal office utilization. Facing population decline and service provider withdrawal, the program aims to transform postal offices into "community hubs" that provide administrative and resident support services in collaboration with local governments and infrastructure providers. Eight regions are conducting demonstrations in fiscal year 2025. Previous initiatives included public regional base collaboration promotion projects (2022-2024) and postal office activation promotion projects (2019-2021), which created model cases addressing regional challenges and digital society adaptation.
