Approval regarding Exemption of Reception Fees due to Spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection | Press Release | MIC ICT Policy

This page announces the MIC's approval on May 11, 2020, of NHK's application to exempt broadcasting reception fees due to COVID-19 spread. The exemption applies to recipients of emergency business continuity subsidies under the government's COVID-19 economic measures, limited to cases where broadcast receivers are installed outside residences. The exemption period is two months (application month plus next month) with full exemption granted. Approximately 1.75 million contracts and approximately 3.2 billion yen are expected to be exempted.
