This page describes Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Global Strategy Bureau, which promotes ICT as an engine of economic growth in the digital age. The GSB comprehensively works on research and development, international standardization, overseas promotion of ICT products and services, and development of international rules. The MIC strategically promotes R&D in Beyond 5G (6G), AI technology, quantum technology, and space ICT to strengthen Japan's international competitiveness and ensure economic security. In March 2023, MIC established a fund at NICT to promote R&D and international standardization toward social implementation and global development.
