This page announces the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's decision to resume imports of Polish beef as of August 1, 2014. Polish beef had been banned since 2002 due to BSE. The import resumption is based on scientific assessment by the Food Safety Commission. Import conditions include: cattle age limited to 30 months or younger, and specified risk materials limited to tonsils and distal ileum. These conditions match those applied to beef from the United States, Canada, France, and Ireland.
