This page explains oil and natural gas developed by JAPEX. Oil and natural gas are energy resources formed from ancient organisms' remains decomposed over millions of years underground. Liquid forms are called "oil" and gaseous forms are called "natural gas," both composed primarily of hydrocarbons. Oil is classified by density and used as fuel and chemical raw materials. Natural gas contains mostly methane and has lower environmental impact than other fossil fuels, used for city gas and power generation. These resources take millions of years to form and accumulate in cap rock and reservoir rock layers, creating oil and gas fields.
