This page announces import food inspection orders implemented by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on February 24, 2015. Mandatory aflatoxin testing was imposed on Iranian pistachio products and Paraguayan chia seeds and their processed products. Iranian pistachio products and Paraguayan chia seeds tested positive for aflatoxin, a carcinogenic fungal toxin, exceeding safety standards. All import lots of these products must now undergo inspection before entry into Japan.
