This page reports on the death of a 60-year-old man who was swept away while windsurfing near a beach in Miura, Kanagawa Prefecture. The victim, Naoyuki Sakai, an unemployed resident of Yokohama, began windsurfing at Mito-hama Beach on April 5th at around 1 PM and subsequently drifted. Following reports, the coast guard and others searched the area and found him unconscious on a beach in Yokosuka, approximately 1 kilometer north, at around 3:50 PM. He was transported to a hospital where his death was confirmed on April 6th. Police are investigating the circumstances.
