This page reports that cherry blossoms at Yoshino Mountain in Nara Prefecture have reached peak bloom. Known as "Ichimoku Senbon" (one glance, thousand trees) due to the blanket of blossoms covering the mountainside, approximately 30,000 cherry trees, primarily Shiroyamazakura, are now in full bloom. The blossoms opened several days earlier than last year. The mountain's cherry trees are deeply connected to mountain worship and have been protected as sacred trees. Lower elevations bloom first, with the highest peak "Okusenbon" expected to open on the 4th and reach full bloom on the 10th. Night illuminations continue until the 19th.
