This page presents the Personal Information Protection Commission's view on the effective use of contact tracing apps for COVID-19 countermeasures. As contact tracing apps are being introduced globally to combat the pandemic using ICT technologies and data, international discussions continue on protecting and utilizing personal information related to these apps. Since Japan is also considering introducing such apps through public-private partnerships, the PPC has adopted an official opinion outlining its view on their effective use.
