This page reports on a capsizing accident that occurred in March off Henoko, Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture. A 17-year-old female student from Doshisha International High School and a 71-year-old ship captain died during the incident. The Japan Coast Guard conducted a search at the captain's residence of the ship where the student was aboard, suspected of professional negligence resulting in death and injury. The accident occurred when the vessel "Fukutsu" capsized, followed by "Heiwamaru" approximately two minutes later. All 21 people aboard were thrown into the sea, resulting in 2 deaths and 14 injuries.
