This page announces the winners of the 2nd Decarbonized City Development Award, jointly established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Ministry of the Environment. Since 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions originate from urban activities, the award recognizes excellent decarbonized urban development projects to achieve Japan's 2030 46% reduction target and 2050 net-zero goal. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Prize was awarded to TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY, and the Minister of the Environment Prize to Onko Sosin no Mori NOVARE. Three special award winners were also selected. The awards ceremony is scheduled for January 15, 2026.
