About this page
This page presents information about the Amami Islands Development Council under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Established on June 21, 1954, the council investigates and deliberates important matters concerning the development of the Amami Islands. The 121st meeting was held on October 7, 2025. The council comprises multiple members and includes working groups examining roles of the Amami Islands Development Fund. Field surveys of Amami Oshima and Kikai Island were conducted in fiscal year 2025.
