This page announces the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's selection of implementation sites for an autonomous truck driving technology demonstration project in port cargo terminals. The ministry conducted a public recruitment from June 11 to July 28, 2021, to verify the safety of Level 2 autonomous truck technology. After rigorous screening based on application requirements and coordination with local stakeholders, Akita Port's Outer Harbor District Wharf No. 1 and Akita Port's Mukaihama District Quay (7.5m water depth) were selected as the implementation sites.
