This page describes Japan's Aviation Safety Program (SSP) established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Based on ICAO international standards, the program enables regulatory authorities and service providers to implement proactive safety measures and improve safety. The SSP was formulated in October 2012 and elevated to ministerial notice status in 2024. The National Aviation Safety Plan (NASP) outlines specific initiatives. Additionally, the Voluntary Information Contributory to Enhancement of Safety (VOICES) system collects incident reports from aviation professionals to prevent accidents. Expert committees analyze safety information in aviation transport, airport, and air traffic control sectors, sharing findings publicly.
