This page presents Japan's lodging statistics survey results from the Japan Tourism Agency. In December 2025, total overnight stays reached 53.59 million (down 4.2% year-on-year), and in January 2026, 46.28 million (down 5.3%). For the full year 2025, total overnight stays were 653.48 million (down 0.8%), with domestic stays decreasing 3.8% while foreign stays increased 8.2%. The overall room occupancy rate for 2025 was 61.8%.
