This page announces a public comment period by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism regarding amendments to educational standards for registered pilot training facilities. The 3rd-class pilot training program currently requires all trainees to complete 4.5 months of vessel training, but about 30% of trainees have prior maritime experience. To create a more rational program tailored to individual experience levels, the ministry proposes shortening the training period within educationally sound limits.
