This page announces Japan's response to the U.S. FDA's decision to ban 19 antimicrobial ingredients, including Triclosan, from antibacterial soaps. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is promoting manufacturers to switch approximately 800 approved domestic products containing these ingredients to alternative formulations within one year. The ministry will expedite approval reviews for replacement products. No health hazards related to these products have been reported in Japan.
