This page announces the Fair Trade Commission's actual survey report on mobile OS markets released on February 9, 2023. As digital services increasingly become essential to daily life and smartphones serve as the primary access point for digital content, the commission conducted a comprehensive investigation into competition in mobile OS and app distribution markets. The survey included business surveys (596 companies), consumer surveys (2,000 respondents), and interviews with 23 stakeholders. Written inquiries were sent to major OS providers Google and Apple. Going forward, the commission will strictly enforce antimonopoly law for problematic cases and cooperate with government agencies to improve competition conditions in the mobile ecosystem.
