This page presents the results of a special investigation conducted by the Japan Fair Trade Commission on December 27, 2023, regarding the abuse of superior bargaining position under the Antimonopoly Law and measures to facilitate smooth price pass-through of increased costs. Following a 2022 emergency survey that revealed slow progress in cost pass-through, a 2023 special investigation was conducted targeting 110,000 business operators across 39 industries. The investigation included written surveys and 349 on-site inspections. Follow-up surveys were also conducted with 4,030 previously warned operators and 13 named companies to monitor their progress.
