This page reports on a Okayama Prefectural Police inspector, Hiroo Wada (59), who was sentenced to two years in prison for indecent assault against a female reporter. According to the indictment, in May 2024, Wada encouraged the reporter to drink alcohol at his home during a night-time interview. When she became intoxicated, he allegedly committed indecent acts against her. The defense claimed the reporter's testimony was unreliable, but the prosecution argued her account was credible and corroborated by other witnesses. Wada, hired in 1991, was head of an organized crime unit at the time.
