According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Rakuten user accounts are being hijacked and illegally charged using stolen credit card information. Approximately 400 damage reports have been filed since July last year. One case involves a 60-year-old man in Nerima, Tokyo, who ordered a stainless steel rack on Amazon but received it shipped from Rakuten via a hijacked account belonging to a man in Chiba Prefecture. Similar incidents are occurring on other shopping sites including Qoo10 and SHEIN, with credit cards used for payment belonging to different individuals than the hijacked account holders.
