This page reports on nine divers who went missing while diving near Cape Soya in Wakkanai, Hokkaido on April 4th. Around 11 a.m., the diving operator reported their non-return to emergency services. The Wakkanai Coast Guard searched using patrol boats and helicopters, discovering the nine people drifting at sea about two hours later. They were rescued by Hokkaido police helicopters and boats. All were conscious, having drifted approximately 5 kilometers southeast.
