In February, his private car contacted a guardrail while heading to a ceremonial venue for official duties. The Tsu District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to prosecute him on March 31, judging "various circumstances comprehensively." The mayor explained his failure to report was due to "naive judgment that such minor contact would be acceptable."
