About this page

This page covers the 1968 Yokosuka Line bombing incident. The perpetrator was Yoshinori Wakamatsu, 25, who planted a time bomb on a train after being rejected by his fiancée. Born in Yamagata Prefecture, Wakamatsu lost his father in World War II and was raised by his mother. He was quiet and studious but couldn't afford high school. At 17, he moved to Tokyo to apprentice as a carpenter, eventually becoming a skilled worker pursuing a second-class architect license. Four months after the bombing, police identified him through candy box evidence and he confessed.
