This page describes the APEC Transportation Working Group, established by the 3rd APEC Ministerial Meeting to enhance efficiency and safety of transportation systems in the region. It convenes twice yearly since October 1991. The WG comprises 21 member economies of APEC, organized into four expert groups: Maritime, Aviation, Land Transport, and Intermodal. Japan chairs the Maritime Expert Group and leads discussions on shipping liberalization and port capacity improvement. Recent discussions focus on harmonizing security with safety and efficiency, supply chain management, and public transport security, working toward the Bogor Goals for free and open trade by 2010 for developed and 2020 for developing economies.
