This page describes the Japan-U.S. Automotive Consultative Group (ACG), established in October 2001. Recognizing the dramatic global changes in the automotive industry due to globalization and IT development, the governments created an independent cooperation framework. The ACG discusses broad bilateral interests including global issues and trade-related matters. The first meeting held in San Francisco in January 2003 covered topics such as market overview, aftermarket parts, IT adoption in procurement, regulatory operations, fuel efficiency standards, and fuel cell R&D.
