This page announces the first meeting of the Shiretoko Sightseeing Ship Accident Countermeasures Follow-up Committee by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Following the April 2022 accident, comprehensive safety measures for passenger ships were compiled in December 2023. The committee will review implementation progress of these safety initiatives. The first meeting is scheduled for October 12, 2023, at the Central Government Building.
