This page presents the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's press release from August 31, 2021, regarding unannounced inspections of generic drug manufacturing facilities. Following quality issues at generic drug manufacturers, unannounced inspections were conducted at 46 pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities nationwide. Results identified one facility with violations of pharmaceutical law and nine facilities with moderate deficiencies in GMP regulations. Based on the findings, the ministry developed unannounced inspection guidelines and committed to strengthening supervision and guidance in cooperation with prefectural governments.
