This page presents the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's investigation results on radiation exposure from radioactive cesium in food, released in June 2016. The survey, conducted from September to October 2015 in 15 regions nationwide, estimated annual radiation doses from cesium-137 in distributed food products. Results showed that annual radiation exposure was estimated at 0.0006-0.0015 millisieverts per year, which is less than 1% of the regulatory limit of 1 millisievert per year, confirming extremely low levels. The ministry will continue conducting similar surveys to verify food safety.
