This page reports an incident involving a dozing train driver on JR Tokai's special express train "Hida." On March 28, 2026, a male driver in his 50s fell asleep while operating the Hida No. 10 (four cars), causing the train to enter Nagoya Station at 71 kilometers per hour, exceeding the 55 kph speed limit. Safety equipment activated, triggering emergency braking and stopping the train. Approximately 180 passengers were unharmed, though the train was delayed about 10 minutes. JR Tokai stated it would strengthen training and prevent recurrence.
