This page describes the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), established in 1994 to improve regional security through dialogue and cooperation on political and security issues. The ARF comprises 26 countries including ASEAN's 10 members and the EU, with diplomatic and defense representatives participating in regular ministerial and senior official meetings based on consensus. The forum conducts counter-terrorism working-level meetings and seminars involving foreign affairs, military, and operational officials for practical cooperation. Participating countries include ASEAN members plus Japan, the United States, Canada, Australia, and others.
