This page announces the fourth meeting of the guideline deliberation committee on fair trading promotion in port transportation operations by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Due to declining working-age population, labor shortages among port transportation operators have become evident. While appropriate rate setting and equipment investments for wage improvements are necessary, the power imbalance between shippers/shipping companies and port operators makes fair trading difficult. The ministry will establish guidelines promoting fair trading in port transportation. The meeting is scheduled for January 27, 2026, at the Central Government Building.
