This page reports a personal information leak disclosed by the Japan Fair Trade Commission on February 26, 2021. The General Affairs Division of the Economic Trade Bureau inadvertently sent email files containing personal information of 1,381 individuals collected from past surveys to two external organizations and one business entity between August and September 2020. The leaked data included names, titles, phone numbers, and email addresses of officers from cooperatives. The Commission requested deletion of the files and apologized to affected parties. The Commission pledges to strengthen staff training and management systems to prevent future incidents.
